Placerville is too far to walk from the airport,
you'll need a taxi to get to town but the ride only cost me $13. Ask
to be taken to the historic part of town where you find about 1/2
mile of little shops. Everything from military surplus to art
studios. Just as you enter town there are a couple of places to eat.
We asked to be dropped off there. Swettie Pie surved a very good
lunch but the pie was to die for. After lunch we walked the town and
back stopping at several places.
For those living
in NorCal this is a good stop at a real nice airport. From SoCal this was a long ride for a couple hours of entertainment.
We had a nice time and I'm glad we went. On the ride back to the
airport I asked the cab driver what we should do next time and were
told we'd done about all there is to do.

On the ramp in
Placerville. Notice the Sierra Nevada range in the
background. The
Lenticular clouds give you some idea of ride conditions east
of my route. |
